Key points

  • Inteliumlaw has launched end-to-end Ontario gaming licence support for operators and suppliers.
  • The firm estimates a 6- to 9-month licensing window, subject to project complexity.
  • Inteliumlaw cites an Ipsos study finding 91.1% of Ontario online gamblers use licensed platforms.
  • Alberta and other Canadian provinces are planned next.

Inteliumlaw, a legal advisory firm, has introduced dedicated end-to-end support in securing a gaming license in Ontario, positioning the firm among the first to help both operators and suppliers enter the province’s regulated iGaming market. The new service is designed for gambling businesses seeking to establish a credible regulatory presence in Canada, starting with Ontario and later scaling across one of the world’s fastest-growing regulated iGaming markets.

Effectively, Inteliumlaw believes Ontario has emerged as one of the continent’s most successful examples of regulated gambling in Canada to date, citing an Ipsos study finding that more than 9 in 10 (91.1%) online gamblers in the province use licensed platforms, despite the continued dominance of unregulated alternatives elsewhere in Canada. Ontario has been reaching new all-time highs in annual revenue and new licensed operators year after year, making local authorization fundamental for serious gambling businesses to remain competitive and earn lasting consumer trust in the region.

“Google ‘Anjouan,’ and hundreds of consultancies will be ready to assist. Do the same with ‘Ontario,’ and you can count firms providing dedicated licensing support on one hand. Ontario has reached a point where nobody questions its attractiveness but rather seeks how to enter it the most effectively. The province’s record-breaking performance continues to guarantee rising demand, and our goal is to give Inteliumlaw clients everything they need to succeed in the market, turning that interest into compliant, future-proof structures designed for long-term growth.”

Elena Sadovskaya, Legal & Business Professional, Inteliumlaw

The company expects more Canadian provincial licensing regimes beyond Ontario, claiming to fill the prevailing gap for specialist expertise and remain among the first legal advisors leveraging their know-how to help businesses navigate newly regulated markets across the country. The plans were confirmed by Elena Sadovskaya in the interview with G&M News earlier this summer, when she revealed Inteliumlaw would introduce support for Ontario and Alberta before, over time, gradually adding other Canadian provinces once they satisfy the firm’s internal criteria for client service provision.

Inteliumlaw has already started accepting requests from gambling brands looking for legal assistance with entering Ontario’s regulated iGaming market. The firm estimates a 6- to 9-month licensing window for businesses looking to get an Ontario gaming license with their support, subject to project complexity and application readiness. Interested parties may submit an inquiry via Inteliumlaw contact form and expect the company’s representative to respond within 24 hours after receiving the contact information and a short description of the client’s needs.

Industry context

Ontario opened its regulated online gambling market to private operators on 4 April 2022. Operators register with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and sign an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario (iGO), the AGCO subsidiary that conducts and manages the market.

In the 2024-25 fiscal year (April 2024 to March 2025), players in Ontario wagered C$82.7bn, up 31% year on year, and total gaming revenue rose 32% to C$3.2bn, according to iGO’s year-three market report. The market then had 49 operators running 84 gaming sites. iGO now publishes its market performance report monthly, with data up to August 2026.

Alberta is the second province to open a competitive regulated market. EpicWins follows both provinces in its Canada coverage and North America news.
