Nevada Gaming Revenue Reaches $1.23 Billion in August 2025

Nevada's gaming industry posted $1.23 billion in total revenue for August 2025, marking a 5.5% increase from the same month in 2024. The state has now surpassed the $1 billion threshold for 54 consecutive months.

The growth was fueled by a sharp rise in baccarat play and mobile sports betting. Table games and slots both contributed to the upward trend, according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board’s latest monthly report.

Table Games Lead Revenue Growth

Table and card games generated $411.8 million in August, up 12.6% year-over-year. Baccarat was the standout performer, bringing in $116.5 million—a 52.6% increase compared to August 2024.

The Las Vegas Strip accounted for most of the baccarat revenue, with $115.6 million coming from Strip properties alone. The game has become a key driver of high-roller activity across Nevada’s casinos.

Blackjack remained the second-largest revenue source among table games, generating $99.1 million. Roulette revenue climbed 20.5% to $39.9 million, while craps revenue declined 7.4% to $36.2 million.

Slot Revenue Shows Mixed Results

Slot machines contributed $816.1 million to the state’s total gaming revenue in August. Performance varied by denomination.

Multi-denomination slots led the category with $629.9 million statewide, up 13.5% from the previous year. These machines accounted for the largest share of slot revenue.

Penny slots, however, saw a sharp decline. Revenue from penny machines dropped 27.3% to $124.3 million. The decline signals a shift in player preferences toward higher-denomination games.

On the Las Vegas Strip, multi-denomination slots rose 14.2% to $508.5 million. Penny slots on the Strip fell 31.2% to $93.1 million.

Sports Betting Revenue Surges 68%

Sports betting had a strong month, with revenue jumping 68.1% to $42 million. The state’s hold rate hit 9.2%, the highest in a year.

Mobile sports betting drove most of the growth. Online platforms generated $29.4 million in August, nearly doubling year-over-year and accounting for 73% of total sports betting revenue.

Football betting brought in $16.3 million, up 85.9% as college and NFL preseason games returned. Baseball betting generated $9.6 million in revenue, up 59% from August 2024.

Total sports wagering reached $455 million in August. Nevada has now maintained a monthly handle above $400 million for 13 straight months.

Regional Performance Breakdown

Clark County, which includes the Las Vegas Strip, reported $1.03 billion in gaming revenue, up 5.3% year-over-year. The region accounts for the majority of Nevada’s gaming activity.

The Las Vegas Strip generated $652.1 million in August, a 2% increase from the previous year. Baccarat and multi-denomination slots offset weaker performance in other categories.

Downtown Las Vegas saw revenue climb 8.3% to $63.2 million. North Las Vegas advanced 7.8% to $24.7 million.

Other markets posted mixed results. The Boulder Strip slipped 1.1% to $84.8 million. Laughlin declined 7.1% to $41 million.

Northern Nevada Markets

Washoe County generated $102.8 million in August, up 7.4% year-over-year. Reno led the region with $76.1 million in revenue, a 9.9% increase.

South Lake Tahoe had one of the strongest performances statewide, climbing 21.5% to $37.7 million. Carson Valley rose 8.9% to $12.4 million.

Mesquite improved nearly 10% to $15.1 million. Elko County was one of the few regions to decline, slipping 0.8% to $32.4 million.

Gaming Revenue Outpaces Visitor Trends

The August revenue growth came despite declining tourism metrics. Tourist volume fell nearly 7% compared to the previous year, and hotel occupancy rates dropped across key markets.

Strong local and domestic betting activity compensated for the visitor downturn. The results show that per-visitor spending and engagement with gaming platforms have remained solid even as foot traffic has softened.

Nevada’s 439 licensed gaming establishments continue to adapt to changing consumer behavior. The shift toward higher-denomination slots and mobile betting platforms reflects evolving player preferences.
