Fifth Edition of Europe’s Leading Safer Gambling Platform
Established in 2021, European Safer Gambling Week has grown to become Europe’s leading platform for safer gambling awareness. The annual pan-European initiative unites stakeholders across the gambling sector in a shared mission to raise awareness about safer gambling and strengthen player protection culture throughout the region.
During the week-long initiative, industry participants will share resources, exchange best practices, and discuss the latest developments in research and regulation. The collaborative effort aims to ensure players have access to the tools and support they need to maintain safe and sustainable gambling habits.
Player Protection Resources and Warning Signs
The newly launched website provides essential resources for identifying potential gambling problems. According to the platform, gambling may be becoming problematic when individuals experience warning signs such as spending more money or time than they can afford, finding it difficult to manage or stop gambling, or lying about their gambling activities to others.
Additional warning indicators include chasing losses or gambling to solve financial problems, borrowing money or selling possessions to fund gambling, needing larger bets or longer sessions to achieve the same excitement, neglecting work or relationships due to gambling, and experiencing anxiety, guilt, or depression related to gambling activities.
The website emphasizes that free, confidential help and support are available for anyone experiencing these warning signs.
Industry-Wide Collaboration for Player Safety
The initiative brings together various stakeholders from across Europe’s gambling sector to promote safe and sustainable play. By creating a unified platform for sharing tools, resources, and best practices, European Safer Gambling Week facilitates industry-wide cooperation on player protection measures.
The 2025 edition continues EGBA’s commitment to maintaining high standards of player safety while fostering dialogue between operators, regulators, researchers, and support organizations throughout the week-long awareness campaign.
