Tang spent five years at FanDuel. He most recently held the role of Senior Director of Canada Commercial, Analytics and Retention for seven months, having previously served as Director of FanDuel’s Canadian commercial arm. Before FanDuel, he spent three and a half years at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), including a stint as Director of Strategy Development. OLG runs Ontario’s provincial lottery and land-based gaming properties. That is a separate business from the province’s regulated online gambling market, which the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) oversees through its subsidiary, iGaming Ontario, and which has operated as a competitive, multi-operator market since April 2022. Tang’s background spans both sides: the Crown corporation and, later, one of the licensed operators competing inside AGCO’s framework. Midnite’s Canada bet Midnite is a UK-based challenger casino and sportsbook. The general manager role puts Tang in charge of building the operator’s Canadian business from the ground up. “The chance to build something new in Canada doesn’t come around often, so I’m excited to share that I’ve joined Midnite to lead its launch into the Canadian market,” Tang wrote on LinkedIn. Ontario’s regulated market already carries close to 50 operators and more than 80 licensed sites, according to AGCO figures, which makes player acquisition costly for a new entrant. Tang’s FanDuel background gives Midnite a general manager who has run commercial and retention functions inside that exact market rather than someone building local knowledge from scratch. Ontario is not the only Canadian jurisdiction with a competitive online market. Alberta launched its own regulated iGaming framework on July 13, 2026, opening a second provincial market to licensed private operators. Canada’s provinces regulate gambling separately, so an operator entering the country has to build out market access province by province rather than under a single national licence. Building UK momentum Midnite is already established in Britain, where it has built its profile through football sponsorships with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Sheffield United and Middlesbrough. The operator secured investment funding in October to support player acquisition. In June 2026, it expanded its sponsorship with Wolverhampton Wanderers, extending a partnership it has used to raise its profile in the UK market. Canada is Midnite’s next market outside the UK. Hiring an executive with direct FanDuel experience signals an operator preparing to compete in Ontario’s crowded field rather than enter quietly. The same approach shaped Midnite’s UK growth: sponsorships to build brand recognition, backed by funding aimed specifically at acquiring players rather than general marketing spend. What comes next Midnite has not confirmed a launch date for its Canadian operation or said which province it will target first. Tang’s appointment is the first public step in building that business, and his OLG background gives Midnite a general manager who has worked through Ontario’s licensing and registration requirements from inside the regulator’s orbit before doing so as an operator. The commercial test is separate from the regulatory one. FanDuel, Tang’s former employer, is among the established operators in a market AGCO already regulates closely, with enforcement action a recurring feature as the number of licensed sites has grown. A challenger brand entering with sponsorship deals and marketing spend still has to prove it can convert that into registered, retained players against operators that got there first. Midnite’s next moves in Canada, on licensing, partnerships and marketing, will show how far Tang can take the operator in the market he just left. Source: Midnite
