Kalshi Surpasses DraftKings and FanDuel in App Downloads Ahead of Super Bowl LX

Kalshi's Super Bowl contracts hit $161M in trading volume

The prediction market platform achieved over four times the monthly download figures of its sports betting competitors, according to analytics firm Apptopia. The platform, which previously trailed behind FanDuel and DraftKings, now demonstrates significant market traction in event-based contracts, including nationwide sports betting offerings.

Record-Breaking Performance Metrics

Kalshi’s January 2026 performance exceeded both DraftKings and FanDuel’s monthly download totals, surpassing even their fastest growth periods. The platform’s Super Bowl-related contracts generated $161 million in trading volume, representing a 450% year-over-year increase. This contributed to Kalshi’s 2025 total trading volume of $23.8 billion.

Distinct Market Approach

Kalshi operates as a peer-to-peer prediction market rather than a traditional sportsbook, charging transaction fees instead of standard bookmaker margins. This model has attracted professional traders seeking alternative betting structures. The platform offers nationwide access to Super Bowl markets, including novelty contracts on advertising content and halftime entertainment, without the state-by-state restrictions that limit traditional sportsbooks.

Platform Growth Trajectory

Since launching sports contracts in 2025, Kalshi has expanded to over 2 million registered users and processed more than $1 billion in sports-related trading volume. The platform’s prediction market structure allows users to trade contracts on various event outcomes, differentiating it from conventional sports betting operators.
